CBD Honey: What’s all the Buzz about?

Let’s take a crash course on one of our top selling products…CBD Honey! Are you ready?

How is our CBD Honey made?

So you may be visualizing our little yellow striped friend, the honeybee, traveling through a colorful meadow full of unique and beautiful wild flowers. As she travels around collecting nectar and pollen for her hive, she notices the scent of a hemp plants flowers drifting through the wind.

I’m sure your next obvious conclusion is that the honeybee lands on the beautiful hemp buds and collects nectar to take back to her family in order to make honey.

Unfortunately, that is not the case……. Hemp plants do not create nectar to attract pollinators like our honeybee friend.

Hemp plants are a wind pollinated species that do not require insects to complete the job. This means that honeybees can not create hemp-based honey because there is no nectar for them to collect.

For CBD Honey to be made, we must delicately infuse our farms CBD extract with our local honeybee friends wonderful honey to make our Hemp N’ Honey product

So…..What can Honeybees collect from Hemp Plants then?

1.Pollen

While this question is still being research by the scientific community, there have been numerous anecdotal reports about honeybees being heavily attracted to the male hemp plants pollen.

We have seen this firsthand on our farm, especially when we are breeding for better genetics. Once those male hemp pollen sacks open, it is game on for pollinators looking to collect some protein-rich pollen.

2.Resin/Terpene

Another hemp resource that researchers are studying the connection between hemp and honeybees is the natural resins and chemical compounds that are in massive concentrations in the hemp flowers. Honeybees are being recorded landing on the flowers and harvesting the wonderful resins/compounds all the time.

Honeybees are already known to collect resins from an array of plants to turn them into a compound called propolis.

Honeybees use propolis as an all-purpose product:

– Glue to hold their hive together

– Antibiotic Medicine for bacterial diseases

– Antifungal Medicine

– As a puddy to fill areas or encapsulate harmful object
