Richmond Fashion Week continues to raise the bar—and this year, we had the honor of being part of something truly transformative.
For the 18th Annual Richmond Fashion Week (April 6–12, 2026, #RVAFW), Executive Producer Jimmy Budd approached the Redfern team with a bold vision: take a forgotten, underutilized courtyard and turn it into an immersive, interactive experience for attendees over the course of five days.
We said yes—and got to work.
A Community Effort in High Fashion
Before anything else, we want to recognize the incredible people who make RVA Fashion Week what it is. From the dedicated staff and security teams to the media, designers, models, and the Deco CNB crew—this event is a true community-driven production. Together, they continue to elevate Richmond’s fashion scene to a national stage.
As a small token of appreciation, the Redfern team prepared curated goodie bags for participants, featuring our hemp-based topicals, including our Premium Body Butter—because self-care matters after long days on your feet.
Transforming the Redfern Courtyard
What started as a blank slate quickly became the Redfern Courtyard—a vibrant, welcoming space where fashion, nature, and community intersected.
This transformation wouldn’t have been possible without our key partners:
- Colesville Nursery (Ashland, VA) – supplying the lush greenery that brought life to the space
- Rosa’s Landscaping – crafting and beautifying the environment
- Innsbrook After Hours – providing the tenting that made the space functional and comfortable
- The Redfern Team – pulling it all together with vision, grit, and creativity
The result was more than just a courtyard—it became a destination within RVA Fashion Week.
VCU Fashion Students Recognized
Beyond aesthetics, this project was also about impact.
As part of our community outreach, Redfern Hemp Co. partnered with students from VCU’s Fashion + Merchandising program to amplify an important message: the environmental impact of microplastics from synthetic clothing.
We provided:
- Free admittance for selected students
- Recognition during nightly intermissions
- A platform to display their work, including posters highlighting how microplastics from clothing are polluting our environment
A special thank you to Professor Kim Guthrie for helping make this collaboration possible.
This is just the beginning. We’re excited to continue supporting initiatives that promote natural fabrics and sustainable alternatives to synthetic materials in the fashion industry.
Looking Ahead
The Redfern Courtyard was more than a project—it was a statement. A reminder that with the right vision and the right people, even overlooked spaces can become something unforgettable.
